HL Deb 26 May 1976 vol 371 cc343-4WA
The Earl of SELKIRK

asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (i) How many:
    1. (a) Directors or Controllers;
    2. (b) Managers;

have been declared " unfit " under the relevant provisions of the 1973 or 1974 Insurance Companies Acts;

(ii) how many persons have been refused permission to hold such offices.

Lord ORAM

: Since 25th July, 1973 four directors or controllers of insurance companies have been found not to be " fit and proper " persons to hold the positions concerned but there have been no such findings in the case of managers of insurance companies. During the same period one person was refused permission to become a controller of an insurance company. These figures do not include persons who withdrew, resigned or were dismissed before a final decision had been taken on their cases.

House adjourned at half past six o'clock.
