§ Mr. Tierneyasked the Secretary of State for Industry if his Department will give what assistance it can to provide sufficient work for disabled persons employed in Remploy factories in the West Midlands.
Mr. Alan WilliamsIt is existing Government policy to give a degree of preference to sheltered workshops including Remploy Ltd. under the priority suppliers scheme when contracts are placed by Government Departments. The nationalised industries and other public sector bodies are encouraged by the Government to take part in these arrangements.
