The detailed discussions with the General Council of British Shipping about greater cooperation between United Kingdom ship-owners and United Kingdom shipyards in the placing of new orders to which my right hon. Friend the then Secretary of State referred in his answer to the hon. Member for Macclesfield (Mr. Winterton) on 5th April 1976—[Vol. 909, c.80–81.]—are continuing and I am glad to say that there has been an encouraging response from the shipowners.
