HC Deb 25 May 1976 vol 912 c182W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he will take to improve the monitoring of the radiation content of tidal rivers discharging into the Irish Sea in the proximity of the Windscale nuclear station.

Mr. Strang

I have been asked to reply.

The Ministry's Radiobiological Laboratory monitors discharges of effluent to the sea from Windscale and other nuclear establishments on a continuing basis. The programme of surveillance is regularly reviewed and provides fully adequate safeguards.
