HL Deb 25 May 1976 vol 371 cc257-8WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they propose to allow regional variations in implementation of Directive 75/268/EEC; and whether such variations would be within the remit of the Scottish and Welsh Assemblies.

Lord STRABOLGI

Her Majesty's Government have at present no proposals to introduce regional variations in implementation of Directive 75/268/EEC, apart from a transitional scheme for Scottish farmers who previously received winter keep acreage grants and some special concessions for crofting counties in Scotland. Since the Government's White Paper Changing Democracy. Devolution to Scotland and Wales.(Cmnd. 6348) of last November stated that the main aspects of argiculture would be reserved, the question of implementing variations under the Directive by the Scottish and Welsh Assemblies does not arise.
