§ Miss Richardsonasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection when the report of the Consumer Protection Advisory Committee on seeking to sell goods without revealing that they are being sold in the course of a business will be published; and what action she proposes to take.
191W
§ Mr. John FraserThe committee's third report, based on a reference from the Director General of Fair Trading, has been laid before Parliament and published as a House of Commons Paper today. The reference contained proposals for ensuring that consumers are not misled about the status of the person seeking to sell goods. The committee agreed with the Director General that the practice adversely affects the economic interest of consumers; it also generally agreed with his proposals for controlling the practice. I hope very shortly to present a draft Order for the approval of Parliament to give effect to the Director General's proposals.
