Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Attorney-General how many persons have been convicted for membership of a proscribed organisation in each quarter during 1974, 1975 and the first quarter of 1976; and how many of these were convicted for that offence alone.

The Attorney-General

During the quarters referred to, as set out in the table below, a total of 248 persons were convicted in respect of belonging, or professing to belong, to a proscribed organisation, contrary to Section 19(1)(a) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1973, of whom 46 were convicted for that offence alone.
