§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will publish in the Official Report a consolidated list of those grants that the Department has agreement to publish, made under industry schemes, in accordance with Section 7 and Section 8 of the Industry Act 1972, and a total figure under each scheme of those grants for which he has got permission to publish under the Act.
Mr. Alan Williams, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 20th May 1976: Vol. 911, c. 701–2], gave the following information:
The previous Secretary of State for Industry announced on 31st July 1974 publication arrangements for selective assistance under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972. Discussions are in train to extend similar arrangements to assistance provided under Section 8 industry schemes introduced after that date. Normally, payments of selective assistance are phased over the various stages of a project, and publication would take place in the quarter after the first tranche of assistance is paid. No payments have been made to date under the machine tools, ferrous foundries and clothing schemes introduced last August and November, but offers of assistance under these schemes totalled £6,130,000 at 10th May 1976.
