§ 19. Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the number of occasions Metropolitan Police have been issued with firearms.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI am informed by the Commissioner that in 1975 firearms 631W were issued on 3,174 occasions for particular incidents involving criminals or other persons known or believed to be armed. Regular issues of firearms were also made to officers on protection duties.
