HC Deb 20 May 1976 vol 911 cc643-4W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what was the number of vouchers allocated to Asian heads of families in each of the countries participating in the system for the year ended 31st December 1975;

(2) what is the allocation of vouchers to Asian heads of families in each of the countries concerned for the current year;

(3) to what extent he has revised the allocation of vouchers to Asian heads of families as a result of the expulsion and consequent immigration to Great Britain of United Kingdom passport holders living in Malawi.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

It is not the practice to disclose how the total quota of vouchers is distributed between countries. As stated by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in the House on 17th May—[Vol. 911, c. 964–74.]—recent events in Malawi have not called for any increase in the total quota of 5,000 vouchers.
