§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total amount made available to date to the Manpower Services Commission for job creation schemes in Scotland; how much is committed to approved schemes; and what progress is being made on take-up of remaining moneys.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that £16 million has been provisionally allocated for the Job Creation Programme in Scotland. Up to 7th May, applications requesting nearly £9 million had been received, and total grants of £5.57 million had been approved. Grants totalling £1.27 million were approved in April and the response in Scotland is now improving.
