§ Mr. GoldingThe only industrial classification specific to arms manufacture is the ordnance and small arms industry in which at March 1976 provisional estimates show that 22,900 people were employed. It is estimated that about 200,000 are directly employed on contracts for the Ministry of Defence. A further 70,000 to 80,000 are estimated to be engaged on defence exports.
