§ Mr. Les HuckfieldMy Department continues to support research into the development of quieter aircraft, both in industry and Government establishments. In addition, the British Government are pressing for the adoption of more stringent noise certification standards by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. As my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Trade announced in the House on 15th March, the Government are commencing consultations with aircraft operators and other interested parties regarding the scope for speeding up the replacement of existing noise aircraft.
