§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will ask those Government Departments and public bodies which undertake testing of goods ordered from private manufacturers if they will publicise the results of these tests where they would benefit the buying public.
§ Mr. John FraserInquiries by my Department have shown that very few goods ordered from private manufacturers by Government Departments and public sector bodies are bought in the same form by the ordinary consumer. Testing is normally confined to those goods that are required to meet a more stringent standard than is necessary for domestic use and the publication of such test results would be unlikely to benefit the buying public and might even be misleading.
