§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of his Department's responsibilities for ensuring that the public have adequate safeguards with regard to medical laboratory investigations, he will give an assurance that there will be no attempt made to lower the present qualification requirement for the appointment of medical laboratory technicians to senior posts in the National Health Service.
§ Mr. DeakinsBearing in mind the need for adequate standards of investigation the Department is discussing with interested bodies the extent to which the National Health Service needs medical laboratory technicians trained beyond the level required for state registration. Any change in grading provisions would be primarily a matter for the Whitley Council.
