HL Deb 12 May 1976 vol 370 c1041WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will give an estimate of the losses incurred by British Waterways Board in 1975–76 as a result of the unofficial action of some dock workers in Hull, which has prevented the barge-aboard-catamaran (BACAT) service between Rotterdam and Hull from being introduced.

Baroness BIRK

: The unofficial action of Hull dockworkers affected the operation of the Board's own carrying fleet and also their activities as agents for and contractors to the BACAT company. The Board attribute to unofficial action a loss of revenue of about £160,000 in total in 1975.
