A projection of past trends points to a figure of some 350 litres per person per day for 1981. The Central Water Planning Unit is currently examining the possibility of changes in these trends. Directly comparable figures for the USA and the Common Market countries are not readily available.

§ Mr. Denis HowellWater authorities submit forecasts of capital expenditure up to five years ahead in accordance with the annual public expenditure survey. The estimated capital expenditure on water supplies in the United Kingdom as a whole—excluding the water companies—over the next few years is expected to be about £220 million per annum at 1975 survey prices.
