§ Dr. OwenProvisional figures show that on 30th September 1975, there were 4,701 full-time and 5,647 part-time medical consultants in the National Health Service in England and Wales. Of the latter, 2,538 were known to hold "maximum part-time" appointments. At the same date, there were 134 whole-time and 149 part-time dental consultants; 45 of the latter were known to hold "maximum part-time" appointments. There were also 1,134 medical consultants and 159 dental consultants holding honorary contracts.
