§ Mr. Cantasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what response he has made to the repersentations of the Association of County Councils for research into alterntive ways of distributing the Exchequer rate support grant with special reference to the position of the shire counties.
§ Mr. John SilkinAt the last meeting of the Consultative Council on Local Government Finance I agreed that the possibility of further work on alternative ways of distributing rate support grant would best be considered in the light of the Report of the Layfield Committee.
