§ Mr. StrangIn its 1974 Survey the Tavistock Institute concluded that, on the basis of data furnished by farmers, the value of agricultural cottages in Great Britain could be estimated to average about £10,000. Applied to the approximately 70,000 cottages currently occupied by farm workers in consequence of their employment this would give a total value of some £700 million.
