§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, if he will give the number of those in receipt of war disablement and war widows' pensions in the Kirklees area.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThere is no way in which this information may be obtained without an inordinate expenditure of time and resources. However, the number of war disablement pensioners in the Calder-dale, Kirklees and Wakefield War Pensions Committee area, estimated from a 10 per cent. sample of pensioners analysed by the location of the Post Offices at348W which they draw their pension was, on 31st December 1975, 4,100. There is no comparable figure for war widows readily available but, at 31st December 1975, it was estimated in a similar way that there were 7,500 war widows in the Yorks and Humberside Region of my Department.
