*Paragraph 138 of the White Paper (Cmnd. 6348) proposes that half the members of the Board of the Agency will be appointed by the Scottish Administration, which will also be consulted before the Secretary of State appoints the chairman.
§ Mr. Reidasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the total emoluments of the 460 paid public appointees for which he has sole responsibility; and what are the main areas in which such appointments are made.
§ Mr. MillanI refer to the answer which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Fife, Central (Mr. Hamilton) on 3rd March 1976—[Vol. 906, c. 598–602.] The total annual cost of the salaries and fees payable for the appointments listed there is about £427,000.
