Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons are employed by the Northern Ireland Industrial Training Executive and by the industry training boards, showing the main categories of employees separately; and what proportion of the total expenditure on salaries and wages is related to staff directly responsible for training and retraining.

Mr. Moyle

Since 1st April 1975 the Northern Ireland Training Executive has been the employer of all administrative and training staff required by industrial training boards to discharge their functions.

At 1st April 1976 the Northern Ireland Training Executive employed a total of 208 persons, as follows:

1 Director.

1 Assistant Director.

80 Administrative Staff (including three Board Secretaries).

9 Training Managers.

63 Senior Training Advisers and Training Advisers.

25 Instructors.

29 Others (security, maintenance, drivers, part-time staff, cleaners, mechanics and labourers).

In the financial year 1974–75 the proportion of the total expenditure on salaries and wages related to staff directly responsible for training and retraining was 68 per cent.
