Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will give brief details of the occasions on which Her Majesty's Government have invoked antidumping measures since 1959.

Mr. Meacher

Since 1959, 131 antidumping or countervailing investigations have been announced by successive Governments. Of this total: 17 applications have been withdrawn by applicants before the completion of the investigation; 26 investigations have led to the imposition of substantive anti-dumping or countervailing duties; 25 investigations have been concluded by the adoption of remedies other than anti-dumping or countervailing duties; 12 investigations are still in progress. In the remaining cases the applications have been rejected after investigation.

Mr. Meacher,

pursuant to the reply [Official Report, 29th March 1976, Vol. 908, c. 368], gave the following information:

Sugar beet harvesters and polyester fibre have been added to the list of products which have been announced as under investigation for anti-dumping action.
