§ 25. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Employment what representation he has received about the threat to over 300 jobs in the cold storage facilities at Glenrothes, Fife, as a consequence of the provisions of the Dock Work Regulation Bill; and what steps he intends to take to ensure that these jobs 265W are safeguarded for the present workers there.
§ Mr. GoldingI have received from my hon. Friend a letter from the Chairman of Fife Growers Limited about the cold storage facilities at Glenrothes in relation to the Dock Work Regulation Bill. The proposals in the Bill do not, in the view of the Government, represent a threat to the jobs of those at present employed there. It is no part of our intention that their jobs should be put at risk, and the legislation will include safeguards to this effect.
