46. Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the progress being achieved in securing the repayment of the Chilean debt to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Dell

Although we have formally approached the Chilean Government on a number of occasions about payment of the debts due to the United Kingdom in 1975, a sum of approximately £11 million is still outstanding.

We shall continue to remind the Chilean Government as necessary that we expect these debts to be paid in full.
