§ Sir George Youngasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the saving to the National Health Service if the average length of stay in hospital was cut by one day.
§ Dr. OwenIt is estimated that there would be a saving of some £40 million at November 1974 prices for the National Health Service in England if the average length of stay for patients other than those in psychiatric and geriatric specialties was cut by one day.
