HL Deb 25 March 1976 vol 369 c850WA
Lord ALPORT

asked the Leader of the House:

Whether, in view of the length of time taken by statements made by Members of the House after the Front Bench representatives have commented on Government Statements—which results in undue delay of the proceedings, excludes those who may wish to ask short questions to elicit information and results in a ragged and unsatisfactory mini-debate—he will invite the proposed Select Committee on Procedure, when established, to review the existing practice.

Lord SHEPHERD

This subject would best be considered by the Sessional Procedure Committee of the House and I will invite them to consider it, with other matters, shortly.

House adjourned at thirteen minutes past seven o'clock.
