Mr. PeterMorrison asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the Government's present policy towards the extension of work permits for foreigners who possess unique skills which are of benefit to the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonThe practice followed in considering extensions of stay of foreign nationals who entered the country with work permits is set out in the Statement of Immigration Rules for Control after Entry: EEC and other non-Commonwealth Nationals (House of Commons Paper 1972–73 No. 82). Extensions may be granted if the applicant is still engaged in the employment 113W specified in the permit or other employment approved by the Department of Employment and the employer confirms that he wishes to continue to employ him.
