§ Mr. Reidasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why it is not currently possible to identify the respective exports of Scotch whisky and Northern Irish whiskey by value and in quantity proof gallons; and whether, in view of the forthcoming establishment of a Scottish Assembly, he will take steps forthwith to ensure that separate export tables are available in future.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonIt is not possible to show separate figures for exports of Northern Irish whiskey and Scotch whisky at present because both beverages are identified for statistical purposes by the same tariff code numbers. I shall consider the hon. Member's suggestion.
