§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will now review the code of practice at coin-operated cleaning establishments and strengthen her powers of enforcement in view of the danger to the public of high airborne concentration of organic washing solvents.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerI have been asked to reply.
The Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission informs me that a general review of health and safety publications is being undertaken and that this will include the code of practice on "Safety of coin-operated dry cleaning installations". The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 introduced new powers of enforcement to protect against hazards to the public arising from work activity and these would include any hazard arising from the use of coin-operated cleaning installations.
