§ Mr. MeacherResponsibility for compliance with the requirements of the local authority as regards fire risks rests with Chiswick Women's Aid Limited. My Department, which has been contributing a grant temporarily, as recommended by the Select Committee on Violence in Marriage, has encouraged discussions between Chiswick Women's Aid and the local authority concerned of measures to reduce the present overcrowding which gives rise to fire and other risks, and hopes that these discussions will lead to an acceptable solution.
