HL Deb 15 March 1976 vol 369 c142WA
Earl FERRERS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (a) who may submit evidence to the Policy Advisory Committee of the Criminal Law Revision Committee on the age of consent and other related matters;
  2. (b) by what date such evidence should be submitted;
  3. (c) what steps have been taken to ensure that those who are entitled to submit evidence know of their entitlement.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

Anyone may submit written evidence to the Committee. The observations of a number of bodies and individuals known to have an interest in the law relating to sexual offences have already been sought by means of a questionnaire. Those to whom it was sent were invited to submit their views by the end of last November, if possible; but there is no fixed time limit for the submission of evidence. The setting up and membership of the Committee have been announced by Press notices, and following the Committee's first meeting on 5th March a Press notice was issued inviting those interested to submit evidence about the age of consent in relation to sexual offences.

House adjourned at eleven minutes past nine o'clock.
