§ Mr. MarksAll land forming motorway verges serves a highway function. Any spare land which has to be acquired in disposed of as soon as possible. Verges provide clear sight lines and areas for use in emergencies. Parts are sometimes landscaped and planted in order to lessen the impact of the motorway on the environment. The harvesting of grass for animal feed is permitted, on application, where possible. Other use of verges is not desirable.
