§ Mr. Cormackasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what were the total receipts from PAYE in the last fiscal year; and what percentage of this sum was contributed by those earning £2,500 a year and under.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 9th March 1976], gave the following information
Total gross receipts under PAYE in 1974–75 were £8,675 million. This figure does not take account of repayments of tax. I regret that the information in the second part of the Question is not available.
