asked the Secretary of State for Defence what recent reassessment he has made of the strategic situation in the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

Mr. Mason

The security of the Indian Ocean and South Atlantic remains an important British and Western interest. The strategic implications of Soviet naval and military activity in these areas are kept under constant review.
