HC Deb 09 March 1976 vol 907 c195W
Mr. Tom Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied that the Countryside Commission is able to carry out its work effectively in the Snowdonia National Park.

Mr. Barry Jones

Yes. The Countryside Commission has no direct responsibility for the administration of the National Park, which rests with the National Park Committee, but it offers advice and is consulted by the National Park Committee on various issues from time to time.

Mr. Tom Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what work on access roads in Snowdonia National Park has been carried out under the North Wales Hydro Electric Power Act 1973 by the CEGB; and on what precise date work on any access road in connection with this Act began.

Mr. Barry Jones

I understand that construction of the access road from the A5 to Ffynnon Llugwy Reservoir began in June 1974 and has been completed. Construction of part of the access road to the upper reservoir at Marchlyn Mawr began in January 1975 but is not yet complete.
