Mr. Percival

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give a list of the various organisations which were consulted before the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work etc., Act, 1974, and before the introduction of the Employers' Health and Safety Policy Statements (Exception) Regulations in 1975.

The organisations which were consulted before the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Bill are listed below. However, it was desired to reach as wide a public as possible and over 22,000 copies of the consultative document were distributed to those who asked for them. A full list is not available.

I am informed by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that their consultations before the introduction of the Employers' Health and Safety Policy Statements (Exceptions) Regulations 1975 were very wide. It is impossible to provide an exhaustive list because although there was direct consultation with Government
