HC Deb 09 March 1976 vol 907 c184W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what stage his negotiations have reached for a reduction in the importation of clothing from COMECON countries.

Mr. Deakins

Discussions have been completed and my right hon. Friend will be making a statement about the outcome very shortly.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will now impose import controls on low-price suits from COMECON countries.

Mr. Deakins

The importation from COMECON countries of suits wholly or mainly of man-made fibres and of cotton suits is already subject to quota control. My right hon. Friend will be making a statement very shortly about imports from these countries of suits wholly or predominantly of wool.
