HC Deb 09 March 1976 vol 907 c140W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what arrangements are made in the accountancy procedures for recording when Army bands are undertaking engagements away from base for which fees are paid and when the director of music and the bandsmen use Army accommodation and mess facilities.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

When an Army band undertakes a fee-paying engagement and incurs additional expenditure on accommodation, transport, messing, etc., such costs are charged to the sponsor. When a band undertakes an engagement away from its base and is accommodated and messed under Army arrangements, additional costs will not normally arise.
