§ Mr. Peter Reesasked the Secretary of State for Employment which Department is responsible for the supervision of industrial tribunals.
§ Mr. BoothMy Department is responsible for the establishment of industrial tribunals under the powers conferred by Section 12 of the Industrial Training Act 1964. It is also responsible for making, after consultation with the Council on Tribunals, statutory regulations governing the competition and procedure of tribunals. Industrial tribunals are, however, independent judicial bodies and it would not be proper for my or any Department to attempt to supervise their procedure or decisions in individual cases.
