§ Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total number of different forms which his Department, and its subordinate agencies, have currently available for different purposes requiring completion by members of the general public; when the necessity for each such form was last reviewed; and whether he intends to reduce the number of such forms and to simplify their contents.
§ Mr. CroslandThe Department of the Environment has about 200 forms which are completed by members of the public. I accept that the forms should be kept as few and as simple as possible. There are set arrangements to check that the forms continue to be needed, that their content is clear and that it complies with relevant statutory requirements.
