§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe total number of staff—non-industrial and industrial—in post in the Home Office on 1st January 1976 was 32,528, of whom 10,210 were in the London pay area and 22,318 elsewhere. The cost of staff salaries and wages in 1975–76 is not yet available but is expected to be about £152,000,000. The cost of staff salaries and wages in 1974–75 was £105,000,000.
