asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the percentage of 1975–76 loan sanction allocations for capital projects which was devoted to projects: (a) for the mentally ill and (b) for the mentally handicapped.

Projects for the mentally ill account for 6 per cent. of the value of loan approvals given to local authorities in England up to the end of February 1976, and projects for the mentally handicapped 19 per cent. Final approvals to be given in March may affect the percentages for the full year.
