HC Deb 04 March 1976 vol 906 c677W
Mr. Montgomery

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the statutory powers which exist which will permit a qualified elector to have his name placed on the electoral register where it has been omitted through the fault of the electoral registration officer after correctly completing the annual electoral registration form.

Dr. Summerskill

The only statutory provision that might be relevant is Section 7(2) of the Representation of the People Act 1969, which requires the registration officer to correct the register where it does not carry out his intention to include the name of any person shown in the electors' lists as a person entitled to be registered.
