§ 50. Mr. Donald Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make it his policy not to subsidise losses incurred in operating the Concorde aircraft.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisI do not accept that British Airways will necessarily incur operating losses on their Concorde services. As I have already made clear, however, the Government will stand by the undertaking, given by the previous Administration, to review the financial position periodically with the British Airways Board in the light of the outcome of the Board's operation and of the conditions prevailing in international civil aviation at the time and, if necessary, to take steps to ensure that the Board maintains a sound financial performance.
