HC Deb 04 March 1976 vol 906 cc727-8W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement on his Department's refusal to continue the grant of aid to the Bear Brand Company of Liverpool.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Bear Brand received a Government loan of £350,000 in March 1975 and it applied for further assistance of £200,000 towards the end of last year. In considering this new application, full account was taken of the unemployment problems of Liverpool, but the Government concluded that it was not possible to justify further assistance.
