Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what aid was granted to the North-West Region in 1975 from the EEC Regional Development Fund; and how this compares with the other regions of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

During 1975 the Commission committed £35.9 million from the Regional Development Fund as contributions towards the cost of projects in the United Kingdom. Of this, £3.0 million related to projects in the North West.

The first commitments to the United Kingdom for 1976 were announced on 3rd February and the cumulative commitment by regions is:
