asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress he has made in his consultation with those concerned about details of the next phase of the prices and incomes policy.

The Government are in continuing and valuable discussion with both the TUC and the CBI. However, it would be premature at this stage to reach any firm conclusions about the shape of policies for the period after 31st July.
