asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the names and qualifications of the members of the Joint Working Group on the Distribution and Supervision of Oral Contraceptives, set up under the Department of Health and Social Security; and to list against each member the main organisations with which he or she is connected.

As I stated in my reply to my noble friend Lord Houghton of Sowerby on 14th October 1975, the Working Group on Oral Contraceptives was set up on the invitation of my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Social Services and my right honourable and learned friend the Secretary of State for Wales by the Central Health Services Council, the Medicines Commission and the Committee on Safety of Medicines. Members were drawn from these bodies, and from the Standing Medical, Nursing and Midwifery, and Pharmaceutical Advisory Committees and subsequently from the newly created Committee on the Review of Medicines. The Group will report to the three sponsoring bodies and the Committee on the Review of Medicines, which will convey their conclusions to my right honourable friends.

Membership of the Working Group has changed slightly since October 1975 and the following are the names of the present members of the Working Group, their qualifications and the main organisations with which they are associated:
